Actin: An under control actor of cellular architecture

Relying on the original use of biomimetic tools, researchers from our laboratory [1] experimentally observed the assembly modalities of actin filaments networks and determined by computational modeling and the mechanical and probabilistic laws governing the formation of these networks.

Actin filaments, polymerizing from a circle-shaped micropattern (left-hand image) or star (right-hand image), interact to give complex networks of very different structures. The image on the right is a superposition of 30 identical micropatterns showing the reproducibility of these networks.
