Molecular evolution of a chloroplastic protein methyltransferase



Researchers from the Plant & Cell Physiology Laboratory studied the molecular evolution of a chloroplast protein methyltransferase responsible for the methylation of chloroplast proteins involved in CO2 fixation and show that insertion of an amino acid accompanied by two substitutions are sufficient to change its substrate.
