Dynamic organization of the actin cytoskeleton. "May the force be with you"

Maintaining the architectural integrity of a cell, its deformation, motility, are provided by the cytoskeleton in which a predominant component is an organic polymer: the actin filament. Knowledge of the molecular mechanisms of the dynamic assembly of these polymers will be useful in the fight against certain diseases found in embryology, oncology or in neurodegenerative diseases.

Published on 1 July 2008

To access the information at the molecular level, we use a novel imaging technique (the evanescent wave microscopy) that allows the study of actin dynamics at the molecular level and track real time individual actin filaments within orderly actin structures.
